Job Description:

The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Lecturer of the Engineering Innovation Institute (EII). The position will have the working title of Assistant Director of the Engineering Innovation Institute. This is a 12-month non-tenure track academic position. The Assistant Director of the Engineering Innovation Institute supports the missions of the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering and EII by supporting programs of EII and assisting the Director with ensuring EII goals and objectives are achieved. The individual is expected to represent EII at the university level through various avenues and serves on various committees as charged by the EII Director. The individual may also represent the college and university on a state and national level as directed. In addition, the Assistant Director undertakes the following responsibilities:

+ Coordinates, builds, and delivers engineering innovation curricular and experiential programs to support the mission and goals of EII through assessing critical innovation and entrepreneurship student and faculty skills gaps and designing programs to fill those gaps.

+ Provides support in managing the curricular offerings of EII and growing the curriculum under the direction of the EII Director. Manages design and approval of new curricular offerings by assessing new course/workshop/seminar needs and managing new course offerings approvals through the College and University Curriculum Committees. Coordinates curriculum delivery for each semester including course logistics and scheduling. Assures delivery of instruction in the EII curricular offerings through personal instruction and coordination of other instructors as charged by the EII Director.

+ Conducts surveys to assist in determining levels of success of existing programs or needed development of new programs. Assists in review of curriculum for accreditation and other processes through collection, preparation and presentation of Course Objectives, Student Learning Outcomes, student and instructor performance assessments, and other information required by accrediting agencies.

+ Acts as an advisor to engineering students wishing to explore their entrepreneurial or innovation potential by providing individualized guidance and counsel.

+ Provides support to the EII Director in building and managing innovative faculty and technology commercialization/economic impact focused programs of EII.

+ Facilitates visits by other stakeholders or leaders including hosting visitors, coordinating detailed schedules for the visitors, and ensuring relevant parties are available to answer any questions triggered by the visit.

+ Undertakes related special assignments as designated. Provides support and leadership in other facets and programs of EII including but not limited to establishing and managing coordination of EII workshops, summits, and other events, liaising between EII and internal (e.g. faculty, students, staff) and external (e.g. entrepreneurial and investment community, industry) constituents, building experiential programs for students, engaging stakeholders in mentoring students and faculty.

Minimum Requirements:

Must possess a bachelor's degree in field relevant to the position with two years of previous experience, preference will be given to individuals who possess a master' or higher level degree in Engineering, Engineering or Technology Management or closely related fields or equivalent technical entrepreneurship and/or innovation experience.
