Job Description:

Outdoor Recreation Associates at Lake Wauburg may work in the parks, at the climbing wall and at the UFOTCC (University of Florida Outdoor Team Challenge Courses).

+ Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests.

+ Assist users regularly with questions and equipment.

+ Administer First Aid/CPR/AED in an emergency.

+ Prevent injuries by eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors.

+ Enforce rules, regulations and policies.

+ Complete administrative paperwork.

+ Perform maintenance and cleaning.

+ Inspect facilities and equipment for unsafe conditions, remedy the condition and or notify supervisors.

+ Participate in departmental trainings.

+ Maintain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

+ Assist supervisors and professional staff with additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

o Current First Aid/CPR/AED or the ability to attain within the first month of employment.

o Previous experience with climbing walls, ropes/challenge courses both high and low, group facilitation and customer service is desirable.

o Prior experience being outdoors.

o Availability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and when University of Florida classes are not is session.
